For Connected & Embedded Network Devices

The gateway ships too.

Medical devices rarely ship alone. Routers, gateways, and companion boxes carry patient data and sit inside your risk analysis — usually running vendor firmware nobody can audit. Liminix replaces that firmware with images built the same way TraceOS builds your device: from source, declaratively, verifiably.

What Liminix is

Liminix is an actively developed, open-source build system for small network hardware — consumer-class routers and embedded boards with as little as 16 MB of flash. Where vendor firmware and conventional router distributions are opaque binary blobs, a Liminix image is a declarative specification: every daemon, kernel option, and library chosen explicitly and built from source.

It is a young project moving quickly, and it stands on the same build foundations as TraceOS itself. That shared ancestry is the point.

What that gets you

  • ▪ Minimal, single-purpose firmware — an attack surface you can enumerate
  • ▪ Every component built from pinned source, reproducibly
  • ▪ Configuration as reviewable, version-controlled code
  • ▪ No dependence on a hardware vendor's update schedule

One chain of trust for the whole ecosystem

Because a Liminix image is expressed in the same build language TraceOS audits, the chain of trust extends to it without translation.

Auditable to the edge of the network.
